How we work
How we research, and where our information comes from.
PawsNPup brings together useful information from authentic, publicly available sources and organises it clearly in one place. Here is how that works, and how you can check it for yourself.
◆ Last updated September 2026What PawsNPup actually does
PawsNPup is an independent, research-driven platform for dog and cat parents. Our work is research, curation, organisation, and clear explanation. We read widely across reputable sources, then bring the useful parts together so you don’t have to search a dozen sites to begin understanding a topic.
We do not conduct scientific, clinical, laboratory, or veterinary research of our own, and we don’t present ourselves as a medical or academic authority. Our value is making existing, trustworthy information easier to find and understand.
The kinds of sources we use
Depending on the topic, the sources we research may include:
- Recognised animal-welfare and rescue organisations
- Educational and university extension resources
- Established, reputable pet and veterinary information publishers
- Official and government animal-health resources
- Widely referenced books and public guidance from relevant organisations
Not every source is a peer-reviewed scientific paper, and we don’t claim that it is. We choose sources for being reputable, publicly available, and relevant to the question at hand.
How we handle sourcing
Where a claim matters, we point back to the material we drew on so you can read the original and judge for yourself. Our aim is transparency, not to claim ownership of anyone else’s research.
If a topic is contested or the evidence is mixed, we’d rather say so plainly than pretend there is a single tidy answer.
Where our information stops
PawsNPup is a knowledge and discovery platform, not a veterinary practice. Our guides are general information to help you understand a topic and ask better questions. For anything medical, or in an emergency, your own vet is the right place to go. They know your pet, and we don’t.
Corrections and updates
Understanding of pet care evolves, and so do our guides. If you spot something that reads wrong or out of date, tell us and we’ll review it. You can reach us through the contact page.
